Fortifi Bank announced Thursday that it has put plans on hold to open a bank branch in Ripon.

The news comes after unexpected staff changes and the need to reevaluate the available resources to open a new location.

“This is an unfortunate and unexpected set of circumstances that has stifled our plans to expand to Ripon,” said Eric Cerbins, president and CEO of Fortifi Bank. “To say we are hugely disappointed is an understatement.”

In February, the bank announced their plans to open a full-service location in Ripon. The new branch was expected to open this summer in the historic downtown district.

“We are still committed to the Ripon community for the long term, no matter where our physical location is in the meantime,” Market Manager Kristen Hermanson added.

“Our mission to grow Wisconsin aligns well with the community and we look forward to the opportunity to serve the citizens of Ripon in the future,” said Wendy Seaman, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

A timeframe to re-evaluate the project has not been announced.

The bank currently operates eight branches in Berlin, Green Bay, Green Lake, Montello, Omro, Waunakee, Westfield, and Winneconne.
